We were in a rhythm. It was all working.
We did a great job blocking their middles - that`s something the girls haven`t done before, and we did a great job with that.
To be in his presence, you were happy.
It`s important to me, they continue to do the work he was working on. But, it`s also important the church continue to build and grow from what he`s left behind.
The dire circumstances are that you`ve got people who have been without insulin or oral medications for four days now, and they`re dying,
Defensively, they began to get in the passing lanes. They went from man-to-man to a zone.
The intensity is still there. I love coaching. I`m not on the floor but I am still in the game.
If I had a liquor license, I`d still be smoke-free. When (the ordinance) happens, people will not stay home.
There is no such word as `can`t` if you show Him love and honor Him, He will show it back. I truly believe that.
We were so pumped. To me, it felt like the end of the game.
I would have to have Mascara and Lip Gloss. The mascara to accent my almond shaped eyes (making me look sexy!) and lip gloss to soften my lips… And make them plump for that perfect kiss with David Beckham. Than again I might have to go with Mark-Paul Gosselaar, I’m talking pre Law and Order aka Zac Morris, his days at Bayside High, sun-kissed, tan and frosted tips - make me wish we were sharing a milkshake at the Max!
Let me say this: There is a girl, and she`s been a part of Phelps` life for awhile. She`s not famous. I`ve seen them together at events, and she`s striking.
“I think it was my presentation. I was very confident on the stage, and I stood out in a red gown. So I think maybe that was it.”
I had the chance to see Miss California USA 2010 be crowned. It was an experience to see another states pageant and how they do things.... There were over 130 girls competing for the Miss title. In the end, Nicole Johnson walked away with the crown. She is beautiful and so sweet! Congrats Nicole!!
Michael Phelps` girlfriend is here with him, a stunning brunette with dark features and perfect skin.
“I don’t think it’s hit me still,”
“I was like, ‘OK, either I’m first runner-up again or, oh my goodness, I’ve actually won this thing,’ ”
“Everything is flashing before me. I’m looking at my family and thinking about what I’ve accomplished..... Then they called my name and I was in absolute disbelief.”
“I don’t think it’s hit me still,” Johnson said a little more than a week after being crowned. “I’m on cloud nine, happy, but I don’t realize I’m Miss California.”
“I feel honored to be the following queen after all of it, because it gives me a stepping stone and a place to build further from what has taken place,”
“She said, ‘I think I want to do this,’ ” “And I was like, ‘You’re kidding, I’m not putting out a ton of money. And these pageants, I’ve heard nothing but bad things about them,’ so I didn’t want her to do it at all.”
“I just saw this beautiful, confident girl emerging, and she made a lot of really good friends,” “I think it just brought a lot of confidence and she started to figure out who she was and what she wanted. Within a couple months of winning, she applied to USC.”
“It’s being on stage, it’s learning about yourself, it’s meeting new people and, my gosh, to compete — if I made it to that level with Venezuela — would be absolutely incredible,”
“When you compete, you can listen to everything people say on the outside, but truly the only thing that’s going to give you the confidence to compete and win, I believe, is coming from within,” “You have to love yourself and love who you are in order to accomplish an amazing feat like this.”
"I’d love to win Miss USA,” “I’d like to grow further as an individual, and I’d like to pursue a career in sports media. If I had the perfect world, I’d love to work in Formula One, interview the racers and do all the pit reporting.
“When I was a little girl, that’s what I remember the most — being with my dad, sitting in his lap and watching Formula One on Sunday morning.”
“I love Thousand Oaks—its family-oriented, welcoming way means home to me,”
“I read about my very first pageant in the Thousand Oaks Acorn and thought that would be a great way to get scholarship money,”
“I’m working on fitness—diet and exercise—and shopping for gowns,”
“I believe in getting an education and in continuing education,”
“I’m just so proud of her and all she’s accomplished in the pageants and in her entire life,” “She’s genuine, very ambitious and a goal setter.”
"Now that it is after the fact, I will admit that we were together. We agreed to keep this private because it was the only thing that he could keep private ... we remain close friends."
"She definitely is the perfect Miss California," . "She is great. She is very outgoing, very smart. ... She is very dedicated. This was the last year she is going try and she did it. She is great, everybody loves her."
"We just did it for her," "This is kind of one of her dreams, so we wanted to help her out."
"I would like to get to USA and then to Universe (pageants), and then we will see where my career takes me,".
"What do you consider the most significant challenge facing the state of California?"
"Sometimes we are very divided, and I feel if we can unite and be one state and focus our beliefs in one thing, I think we can succeed and be a very dominant state."
"Focusing on what we truly believe in,"
A stunning brunette with dark features and perfect skin.
“After learning another Nicole Johnson was crowned Miss America in 1999, (when I was in 8th grade) I thought maybe lightening would strike twice and I too could be crowned someday. I got so close in 2007 I realized this was a real possibility!”
“Since the crowning moment I have made it my goal to work on restoring the reputation of the Miss California USA organization. Additionally, I will continue the forward movement K2 Productions has begun with the controversies of the previous year.”
“There are so many kids out there who need a mentor to look up to. Someone they can count on who gives them the guidance they need to succeed in life. I had my parents but that isn’t a reality for everyone. I want to make a difference in a child’s life. To show them how to achieve their dreams and that they really can come true. I am living proof!”
“Honors and awards don’t just fall into your lap, you have to work hard to make them happen and stay focused all the time. Education is the key to working toward your goals. You have to know what you’re working for and where it is going to take you. Learn everything you can about what you need to do to get there. Then you will understand your challange. It is a life long lesson and we are constantly being challenged to cross the next line and keep moving forward.”
"Let the world change you...and you can change the world."
"May you walk proudly step softly and always follow the voice of your heart"
A little madness a little kindness makes for happiness...
"It is beyond a doubt that everyone should have time for some special delight, if only five minutes each day to seek out a lovely flower or a cloud or a star..." Helen Keller
"Ignore our mistakes and we are doomed to repeat them."
"Good friends are like stars, you don`t always see them, but you know they`re always there."
"When you love someone, you`re willing to put up with much more. You don`t always like the person you love. But if you don`t love them, get out of there. It`s not worth it."
Your Heart, Your Passion, Your Dreams
They`re what lead you to Life`s Most Beautiful Places!
“People think pageant girls are snotty, cutthroat, self absorbed,”
“Everybody I meet in the industry is so kind, giving and they are some of the most amazing women I’ve met.”
“I love being onstage and competing in pageants.”
“It’s an empowering position to be in, where you’re comfortable in your own skin.”
“I wanted this more than anything.”
“I don’t think I exercised more in my life. I worked with a personal trainer two days a week, did yoga two days a week and ran the other three.”
“I eat five meals a day, low sodium, low sugar . . . oatmeal with honey and cinnamon instead of sugar and milk, egg whites for breakfast, a few almonds or an apple for snack, and brown rice with chicken and broccoli for dinner.”
“Things like that are heartwrenching, but at the same time you’re wearing a crown and sash and they are elated to see you”
“I had no idea what to expect so I just was myself, was true to who I was and had fun.”
“When Nicole decides to do something she does not quit until she achieves what she set out to do.”
Please remember only ONE of you will walk away with the crown, but please don`t let this discourage you from your path to success and each of us is blessed with a different path.
We each hit bumps along our roads to our dreams and its the ones that continue on with determination and perseverance that will always rise to the top.
A DIFFERENT DAY A DIFFERENT GIRL!
The few girls I was able to have quick conversations with all seem so intelligent and very focused on capturing my crown.
I know I will be crowning an incredible individual on November 21st, 2010!
What an incredible feat, girls you should feel so blessed to be part of such a ground breaking year!
Take it all in and enjoy every second of the pageant!
Nicole is a beautiful brunette with a lot of sass and intelligence, packed into one tiny package.
She knows that her inner and outer beauty are what have gotten her to this point, and that is what will carry her to the crown.
Who is better known than Miss California, after what took place last year. I think it’s an absolutely incredible and amazing platform.”
“When you become Miss USA, you take on breast cancer and ovarian cancer awareness. My platform right now is education. My mother is a teacher and I debated becoming a substitute teacher. When I was in high school, I tutored at risk students. I would tell them it was their choice if they wanted to move on to a 4 year college, or vocational school. But either way, I believe it’s very important to obtain your High School diploma.”
My first pageant took place when I was 17. At that point in my life, I was comfortable with who I was, and felt gorgeous in my skin. I knew I was beautiful inside and out, and with that mind set I entered the pageant world.
I want to feel like a bride does on her wedding day. You have 30 seconds to “wow” the judges and if you’re unable to do that then you’ve lost your spot.
“Because I have to be so done up now, I usually just stick to mascara, chap stick, and some lipstick. I try not to wear much makeup, and actually the less I wear, the more I like the way I look!”
I LOVE shoes, so if I’m going to spend a lot anywhere it would be on my shoes!
If it’s tutoring kids, working with those who are battling for their life, or helping out a neighbor, you should do something that makes you feel alive!
She is an incredible role model for young girls, a true testament of inner and outer beauty.
