Kerry Collins Quotes

Kerry Collins

I was an Eagles fan growing up, growing up so close to them, watching Jaworski (quarterback Ron) and (receiver) Harold Carmichael and (running back) Wilbert Montgomery, and those guys. So, there`s obviously a tie there for me. Of course, when I was in New York I was able to play them every year down there, and I still have a lot of family and friends back there.

You forget about how good he is.

That`s what Rich Gannon `s all about. After he got hurt, he was still in the meetings, he was there. His neck was hurting but he was still a part of it and really wanted us to be successful. That pretty much says it all about him. He`s one of the smartest quarterbacks I`ve ever been around. ... I don`t think there`s anyone better than Rich Gannon . He showed that week in and week out the way he played, too. He was a tremendous competitor.

Our defense played great, and we were able to run the ball well. Those are the two keys to winning a game.

Everything is so effortless for him, ... It doesn`t look like he`s running. I can throw it as far as I can and he catches up to it with no problem. He`s a unique guy. He can run unique routes. Every day, I see something that`s new and different, and it`s something that I like.

It was a bad throw. I had Jerry for the first down, and it got away from me. It was unfortunate because it came at a critical point in the game.

It`s been a variety of things. Certainly, I take as much responsibility as anybody. It seems like it`s been different things at different times, where the players get penalties or non-execution. Like I said, I`m not going to point fingers. I know that I didn`t live up to the expectations I had for myself this season.

Looking back on it, there have been some missed opportunities. I know I`ve missed a couple of things. Defenses have played us soft; we`ve tried to get behind them, and it hasn`t worked out a few times.

Call it lucky, call it fortunate, call it what you will. We`ve had a bunch of them go against us. We were able to handle those kinds of things, and I think that was a big key to winning the game.

Whatever the public perception may have been of Randy, I have nothing bad to say about the guy. He`s come here, worked hard and shown that he`ll do whatever it takes to learn this offense and to be the kind of receiver here like he was in Minnesota.
