Coming from Florida, opening day is sometimes the only day you have like that.
If I don`t make it to the big leagues, nobody`s going to remember I threw a no-hitter in Double-A.
The last pitch I threw to Michael Young, that was about all I had left. I wanted them to call that a strike so bad.
That`s huge. I mean this guy hits a double there, then we are down 4-0 instead of 1-0.
It was fine. I threw 48 pitches and that was about it. The numbers could have been better, but we`ll save all the good breaks for the season.
It`s not like I wanted to fight. I just wanted to make the point that you look like a jackass when you do that and you`re out.
I`ve got a Minor League game on Friday. I just need to keep the intensity and stay focused and get out there and get my work in.
I think I`ve always been prepared for this. I know what I have to do. You can`t make rocket science out of it. You just have to execute pitches. Don`t let exterior distractions in. It just takes away from what you`re trying to do.
I`ve always believed you make your own luck. I wouldn`t say I had bad luck today. I just didn`t execute pitches when I needed to. Pitching against a guy (Zambrano) like that, you can`t give up six runs.
We won the series - that`s the main thing. It would have been nice to sweep. It`s just one of those deals. You can`t give up that many runs to that good of a pitcher.
