We were like a stock company at Warners. We didn`t know any of the stars from the other studios.
- Olivia de HavillandI got something pretty rare: American power and a lot of money to distribute the film (Un long dimanche de fiançailles (2004)) worldwide. I can tell you politicians from right to left are so proud of the film, actors, technicians, everybody except the independent French producers who campaigned against it. But, you know we live in a capitalist world where the only thing is to earn money. They want to get rid of Warners from France. They are not prepared to share the cake.
- Jean-Pierre JeunetSuperman was never previewed because the producers didn`t trust Warners with the film.
- Richard DonnerThe one who was the nicest to me was (James Cagney). He used to take me and sit me down in his dressing room at Warners and say, "Now, Geraine, you have an opportunity here that you seem not to realize. You should go take acting lessons, singing lessons, dancing lessons, and you could become a star." I said, "Well, yeah, Jimmy, thanks a lot, I`ll do that." And of course it went in one ear and out the other, I didn`t do one darn thing about it. I was just frivolous-minded, and as long as I was working and making money, I didn`t mind just being a nobody.
