We played the best game we`ve played all year. Everybody uses Trinity as a measuring stick. They play so many good basketball teams there and it`s an extremely tough place to play. We played extremely well and should have won the ballgame. Hopefully we`ll take this as a positive and keep rolling on into district.

We told the kids that Roberts and Holscher can run. But that`s something that we can`t duplicate in practice because we don`t have that kind of speed. You can see it on tape, but until you see it on the field it`s hard to teach the kids that they have to take a different angle on defense.

Every year I`ve coached, we`ve always had that No. 1 guy who was clearly above everyone else and the rest of the kids just fell in place behind him. This year, they`re all so close in playing level. It`s been great because they`re challenging each other to take it to the next level. We don`t have that one overpowering player, but we`ve got seven kids who can win on all five courts, and they`re all getting better.

That ball right there I was fouling off to the first baseman in foul territory, trying to stay inside that ball, ... This time, I tried to get the (bat) head out, get my hands out. That`s kind of where I need to be. I could finish the season on that note so I can take that into the Dominican.
