Sigourney Quotes

I couldn`t hold my own against Sigourney Weaver and those special effects. I still don`t know what I was doing in that movie. I look at it now and realize I really didn`t belong. I`m just this little girl running around.

- Winona Ryder

(on Sigourney Weaver) I like her very much. She`s just a natural. Not too exotic. Very hard-nosed, intelligent. And flawed too, in the sense she is flawed by emotion. People root for her in "Alien" because she`s so often coming up with the logical solution to some problem and then it just won`t work.

- James Cameron

Well, I see our potential destruction and the potential salvation as human beings coming from technology and how we use it, how we master it and how we prevent it from mastering us. Titanic was as much about that theme as the Terminator films, and in Aliens, it`s the reliance on technology that defeats the marines, but it`s technology being used properly that allows Sigourney`s character to prevail at the end. And Titanic is all about technology, metaphorically as well as on a literal level, because the world was being transformed by the technology at that time. And people were rescued from the Titanic because of wireless technology, and because of the advances that had been made only in the year or so before the ship sank that allowed them to call for help when they were lost at sea in the middle of the North Atlantic. So I think it`s an interesting theme, one that`s always been fascinating for me...

- James Cameron

As different as me and Sigourney look is as different as these two characters are. I`m not filling her shoes. I`m doing a part that has the same monsters, but it`s a completely different movie.

- Sanaa Lathan

In 1979, Alien came out and Sigourney was in it with a bunch a guys. Nobody at that time expected the woman to be the hero, so that was a tradition that started.

Well you see, movies are our generation`s folklore. It`s our pop culture, our reference point. I don`t want it to sound arrogant but I felt that my passion and love for the movies gave me enough guidance as to how I would present a character by mixing elements of different actresses and performances that inspired me. It`s actresses like Sigourney Weaver who was so strong and amazing in Alien and at the same time so feminine and fragile in something like The Year Of Living Dangerously. It`s Faye Dunaway, who is so completely a woman in her films. Her eyes are so...she has very sorrowful eyes. The things you learn from her face in Chinatown!

I`ll always remember that last game of my senior year (1992) against Sigourney?Keota. Sigourney?Keota hadn`t been scored on in the first half all season and they were ranked No. 1. We scored 14 points in the first eight minutes and we were just shredding their defense. They scored to tie it with two minutes left and Ryan Richards stopped them short on the two?point attempt. But we fumbled the kickoff and they recovered it and scored to win. I felt so bad for my Dad. I`m 30 now and not a day goes by that that game doesn`t pop up in my mind.
