"When a picture is screened it is largely a reflection of the mind that directed it. If it is a failure the cause of that failure can often be traced directly to the man with the megaphone. I will also state that many screen successes are almost entirely due to directorial ability." -- March 1925 issue of `The Motion Picture Director`
- Louis B. Mayer"I guess a lot of me in the sense is like Dignan, that`s my sense of humor. The stuff that Dignan is doing is what I would do. When we test-screened the movie I realized that not everybody laughed where I did. I realized there`s not a big audience for my type of humor. Dignan doesn`t have self-awareness. Donald Trump has none either. When I read "The Art of the Deal" I laughed at that because neither of them realize how funny they are" - about his character Dignan in Bottle Rocket (1996).
- Owen Wilson(2/12/04) I remember, before we started principal photography on The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), Peter Jackson screened Braveheart (1995) and The Thin Red Line (1998) for the cast. He said, "This is the tone I want to strike with the Ring movies. I want to see the grime on their faces, the dirt on the ground, and I want that level of gritty emotionalism and intensity." I think his idea was that you can enjoy the fantasy more if you really believe it.
- Sean AstinI really loved Twin Peaks. When I saw the two-hour pilot, they screened it in the big theatre. I said, I don`t know what is going to happen. I`m in this and I don`t understand it. This is never going to sell. Who`s going to watch this thing?
- Sherilyn FennI think it means there`s a lot of work to be done, not just getting information but actually making it so that they want to come in and get screened. They can see the benefits of an early screening process for the overall health.
- Jennifer Robinson(talking about Quentin Tarantino and his relashionship with the cast):"This guy is very smart, and he`s great to his actors. He wants them to be great. He keeps the stuff fresh. When he gave me the script he knew I hadn`t had a big part like this in twenty-five years and he said, "Here, read this, and don`t put any pressure on yourself. Just prepare the way you normally prepare." And I said, "Oh, what a liberating thing." This guy is totally secure. He doesn`t seem to be worried about anything. He`s as good a guy as I have ever worked with. He screened movies once a week for his crew. One of them was American Perfekt (1997), a recent indie film I did.The last week of production he threatened to screen it for the crew and I said to him, "Listen, there`s a tiny bit of `adult content` in this, so I don`t want to hear any catcalls. I don`t know if it this is the right thing to screen." He got on the walkie-talkie and said "Hey, anybody who wants to see Forster naked come on in!"
- Robert Forster(The film was completed by 2002 and screened at several festivals, winning awards in Atlantic City and Palm Springs, Calif. It had distribution offers, including one from one of the) classic ... simply had not had a good track record.
- Bob ClarkI will continue to push for doubling the strength of the U.S. Border Patrol, and to make sure that every cargo container that enters this nation is screened for radiation and potential weapons of mass destruction.
