People today are still living off the table scraps of the `60s. They are still being passed around - the music and the ideas.
- Bob Dylan(On Ace in the Hole (1951)) I was attacked by every paper because of that movie. They loathed it. It was cynical, they said. Cynical, my ass. I tell you, you read about a plane crash somewhere nearby and you want to check out the scene, you can`t get to it because ten thousand people are already there: they`re picking up little scraps, ghoulish souvenir hunters. After I read those horrifying reviews about "Ace in the Hole", I remember I was going down Wilshire Boulevard and there was an automobile accident. Somebody was run over. I stopped my car. I wanted to help that guy who was run over. Then another guy jumps out of his car and photographs the thing. "You`d better call an ambulance," I said. "Call a doctor, my ass. I`ve got to get to the L.A. Times. I`ve got a picture. I`ve got to move. I just took a picture here. I`ve got to deliver it." But you say that in a movie, and the critics think you`re exaggerating."
- Billy WilderI`m deeply fixated on my childhood. Some impressions are extremely vivid, light, smell, and all. There are moments when I can wander through my childhood`s landscape, through rooms long ago, remember how they were furnished, where the pictures hung on the walls, the way the light fell. It`s like a film-little scraps of a film, which I set running and which I can reconstruct to the last detail-except their smell.
- Ingmar BergmanThere has to be some limit to what lawyers can take from their clients. Otherwise, cagey attorneys end up with the lion`s share of the settlement and the victims end up with little more than scraps.
- Dennis HastertI could have said, `This sucks,` (but) what would this have accomplished? ... I was aware of the `Sophie`s choice` that had to be made. I really was proud of my community for saving the auditorium. In America, we have to be proud of what little scraps of elegance we can save in this low-tax, low-service, Texas model of government.
- Rick StevesI had to prepare physically every day, and I didn`t leave many scraps for the writers.
- Ryne SandbergSome for renown, on scraps of learning dote, And think they grow immortal as they quote.
- Abbott Lawrence LowellFeverishly we cleared away the remaining last scraps of rubbish on the floor of the passage before the doorway, until we had only the clean sealed doorway before us.
- Alexandre VinetWHILE YOU WERE DOWN UNDER THE TABLE SEARCHING FOR TABLE SCRAPS THE FEAST WAS ON THE TABLE.
