I like creating these rhythmic patterns. These interlocking rhythmic things are really fun.
- Danny ElfmanBecause of the influence of Chinese martial arts films, Hollywood movies are changing. The actions in the films are more beautiful, more rhythmic, and use some enhanced special effects. I think it`s a great thing.
- Yimou Zhang(on Michelangelo Antonioni) He`s done two masterpieces, you don`t have to bother with the rest. One is Blowup (1966), which I`ve seen many times, and the other is Notte, La (1961), also a wonderful film, although that`s mostly because of the young Jeanne Moreau. In my collection I have a copy of Grido, Il (1957) and damn what a boring movie it is. So devilishly sad, I mean. You know, Antonioni never really learned the trade. He concentrated on single images, never realizing that film is a rhythmic flow of images, a movement. Sure, there are brilliant moments in his films. But I don`t feel anything for Avventura, L` (1960), for example. Only indifference. I never understood why Antonioni was so incredibly applauded. And I thought his muse Monica Vitti was a terrible actress."
- Ingmar BergmanMusic has to be written while people are still excited about a particular melodic or rhythmic sequence. The idea doesn`t come out the same if we`re not really excited about it.
- Brandon BoydI`m not looking to go out there and make a rhythmic Timbaland track.
- Taylor DayneI wanted to capture the excitement of house music, almost like a four-four beat, and the best way to do that was to use a language that was rhythmic and performative.
- Irvine WelshWhat I wanted to do was similar to what I did with (the 2003 soundtrack for) `The Fighting Temptations,` ... That was both a gospel album and a contemporary album. Here we have old and young: an adult AC record as well as a rhythmic record.
- Mathew KnowlesInteresting phenomena occur when two or more rhythmic patterns are combined, and these phenomena illustrate very aptly the enrichment of information that occurs when one description is combined with another.
- Alex WardArt in Nature is rhythmic and has a horror of constraint.
