I`ve never felt category is restrictive.
- Nora RobertsWhen we talk about violence, we`re talking about the destruction of the human body, and I don`t lose sight of that. In general, my filmmaking is fairly body-oriented, because what you`re photographing is people, bodies. You can`t really photograph an abstract concept, whereas a novelist can write about that. You have to photograph something physical. So that combination of things suggests to me a particular way to deal with violence. And it`s not a bad thing that people really understand what violence is. It`s not, however, a politically correct thing I do. I`m not a big fan of political correctness. It`s very detrimental to art in general. An artist`s responsibility is to be irresponsible. As soon as you start to think about social or political responsibility, you`ve amputated the best limbs you`ve got as an artist. You are plugging into a very restrictive system that is going to push and mold you, and is going to make your art totally useless and ineffective.
- David CronenbergMandate has very grave doubts as to whether the social partnership process, with its current restrictive agenda and parameters can truly address the income needs of those on middle and lower incomes, given the very narrow focus on competitiveness and wage restraint being applied to the talks by both the government and employers in terms of wages in particular.
- John DouglasA covenant made with God should be regarded not as restrictive but as protective.
- Andre Van HeerdenThat means following a very restrictive fiscal and monetary policy which will squeeze the monopolies and cut their subsidies. On the micro level we will allow other economic agents, both domestic and foreign, to compete with them.
- Andrew HarringtonThe supply-side effect of a restrictive monetary policy is likely to be perverse, in that high interest rates enter into costs and thus exert inflationary pressure.
- Andrew Schepers(Some farmers are relocated. Others join the ranks of an estimated 150 million migrant workers drawn to the booming cities in search of jobs. Because of China`s restrictive household registration system, which prohibits rural inhabitants from moving to the cities, they are forced to work illegally, earning pennies an hour and without access to social services. While the migration is good for China`s overly rural economy, another 150 million peasants, lured by the promise of a better life, are expected to move to urban centres in the next decade.) China concerns me a lot because of the massive unemployment, ... I see enough people wandering the streets as it is. If they can`t keep this drive of construction and development, what are these people going to do? You just have to think about that. The Chinese are incredibly strong, they can take a lot more than any Canadian ever could. But I think there`s a limit to all that, too.
- Andy OsbornUnder First Amendment jurisprudence, content-based laws are presumptively unconstitutional and can be justified only if the governmental regulation advances a compelling interest in the least restrictive means available.
