Relays Quotes

It`s so wonderful to live in a community like Chilton County where everyone comes out and supports this. This is very unique. We have many Relays in the state, and we`re very fortunate here in Chilton County that we have two cancer survivors who are being presented with $1000 college scholarships.

I feel a little pressure because I have to give everything I have in both relays. I can`t hold anything back in either relay.

Allyson could run any leg but leadoff. They say she doesn`t have relay experience, but this spring she ran relays at Penn, Modesto, Texas and Mt. Sac.

We three-peated (Stinson Relays) and this is always a good one to win. We`ve come from behind before, but never like this. The first time we won league but not MCALs and last year we won MCALs but not league, we want to win them both this year.

I think they`re really proud of their effort today. It was really a great second effort coming off of yesterday. We had to make sure our relays were ready and that they weren`t holding anything back, and we got great swims out of all those relays.

We picked up a pile of points from the relays. Most of the girls are happy, but some are disappointed they didn`t get a chance to come back for the finals (today), especially our 200 free relay team. I don`t know if we could have beaten Lafayette (the 200 free relay champion), but I would have liked to have gone up side-by-side and raced them.

Lafayette`s girls won last year and should be strong again this year. All of their relays are ranked either first or second with some really fast times.

I`ve told her (in the past) help is coming. Between (last year`s returnees and this year`s incoming freshmen) we`ve got the talent to put together a real good state team and to get some relays as well as individuals back (for the finals).

Allyson had the option of running and she wasn`t very comfortable as the first leg. No one is upset abut not being able to run the relays.
