(on the administration of President George Bush and its invasion of Iraq) "For me as an American, the most painful aspect of this is that I believe that (this) administration has taken the events of 9/11 and has manipulated the grief of the country and I think that`s reprehensible. I don`t think, like many of us, that the reasons we have been given for going to war are the honest reasons. If they are saying it`s about the fact they have biological weapons and might have nuclear weapons and that gives us the liberty to pre-empt and strike because we think they might hit us, then what prevents Pakistan from attacking India, what prevents India from attacking Pakistan, what prevents us from going into North Korea? I believe--though I may wrong because I am no expert--that this war is about what most wars are about: hegemony, money, power and oil."
- Dustin HoffmanI don`t mistrust sentiment and emotion, no. The question becomes, `Are you giving them something to make them a little happier, or are you putting in something that is inherently true to the material?` Are people behaving the way we all really behave, or are they behaving the way we would like them to behave? I mean, the world is not as it`s presented in Frank Capra films. People love those films - which are beautifully made - but I wouldn`t describe them as a true picture of life. The questions are always, is it true? Is it interesting? To worry about those mandatory scenes that some people think make a picture is often just pandering to some conception of an audience. Some films try to outguess an audience. They try to ingratiate themselves, and it`s not something you really have to do. Certainly audiences have flocked to see films that are not essentially true, but I don`t think this prevents them from responding to the truth.

- Desi ArnazThe striking evolutionary conservation of ratchetting points suggests that recursive splicing provides specific advantages for large introns, ... One possibility is that recursive splicing prevents the generation of long RNA transcripts that could form structures that interfere with correct processing into mRNA. Another is that recursive splicing might help stimulate transcription through long introns by promoting interactions between the splicing and transcription machineries. We also know already that recursive splicing is used to control the removal of certain exons from mRNAs, generating structural and functional variation among the gene products.

- Fritz KreislerFor a small carrier, the thing that might be good with rate regulation is that it prevents larger carriers from undercutting and provides us a way to remain competitive in the marketplace. A lot of carriers don`t like it because it`s an inconvenience and costly, but if you look at it from a consumer`s standpoint we have to be able to justify our rates to our consumers and that`s the bottom line.
