I really didn`t want to get pigeonholed.
- Edward Furlong(On My Name is Earl) I was apprehensive about doing TV, because I didn`t want to be known for a certain character. When I did Kissing a Fool with David Schwimmer, I realized how trapped he was by his role on Friends. Everywhere we`d go, people would shout out to him, "Ross! Hey, Ross!" It`s difficult to get away from the shadow of a TV character. I hope I`ve done enough movies that I won`t be pigeonholed as Earl for the rest of my life.
- Jason LeeYeah, there`s a tendency to get pigeonholed in Hollywood.
- Mark RuffaloActors get pigeonholed very quickly, particularly movie actors. In the theater, one is more used to casting people against type and trusting that their talent and skill will get them through.
- Sam MendesI`m not so widely known that I`m going to be pigeonholed.
- Jeri RyanWhen actors get pigeonholed, that`s their own doing to a large degree. Because if you do something that people like, obviously they`re going to ask you to do it again. It`s up to you to say no. If you`re that insecure about working, you`ll probably do what you`re known to do.
- John LarroquetteI enjoy making things that are different. It makes for a better career. I don`t want to do the same thing twice. I love the different roles I`ve played. I don`t ever want to be pigeonholed! That`s the great thing about acting -- all these different people I can play, as long as audiences are willing to see them. The more different roles I do, the more different roles I will get.
- Mariel HemingwayI have complete freedom, and there`s no way to get pigeonholed or bored. What could be better than that?
- Richard MarxI wanted to make a movie that can`t be pigeonholed. I want audiences to come out of this film not knowing what to say or what to think. (on making Takeshis` (2005))
- Takeshi Kitano(Blackburn thinks the main difference between his generation and the company`s older employees lies in the nature of their goals.) People my age tend to like change, to not want to be pigeonholed, to get a lot of different experiences, to be able to move across the organization, ... Sometimes older folks seem to fear change more. They want to master something and then stick with it exclusively. I see Reynolds changing more along the lines of our generation, to moving people throughout the organization to keep up with changes. When you`re in IT, you don`t want to get stuck somewhere because technology changes so fast and you could get left behind.
