I think people read the tabloids because they want to see you eating a burger, or out of your makeup or doing something stupid because they just want to see that you`re like everyone else. And that`s OK. I don`t want to catch myself anymore saying that my life is hard, because the good far outweighs the bad in my life. And it`s easier to focus on those things, on the things that are important.

There is no such thing as pointless violence. `City of God` (Cidade de Deus (2002)), is that pointless violence? It`s reality, it`s real life, it has to do with the human condition. Being involved in Christianity and Catholicism when I was very young, you have that innocence, the teachings of Christ. Deep down you want to think that people are really good - but the reality outweighs that.

It`s hard to imagine that there will be a move towards yanking that guarantee, or weakening the implied guarantee, because it just makes too much sense for the average U.S. citizen. Their benefit is they save money on the mortgage rate because of Fannie and Freddie`s status, but bear the risk of either or both of these businesses going bankrupt. The odds of that are so small that the benefit, in my view, greatly outweighs the cost, and it`s hard to see Congress changing that story. And Fannie and Freddie`s debt is the really the cheapest form of debt outside of Treasury debt.

Nobody wants to press charges because they don`t want to admit they were attacked, ... The question now is: When does the crime become egregious enough that the need to stop it outweighs the need to cover up the embarrassment of being hit?
