"Working with Bette Davis was my greatest challenge and I mean that kindly. She liked to scream and yell. I just sit and knit. During the filming of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962), I knitted a scarf from Hollywood to Malibu".
- Joan CrawfordI missed life in the 1960s, so it has always been a dream of mine to live in a trailer and experience life on the road. A few years ago, I bought a 27-foot, 1978 Airstream from the Recycler in Atlanta. My boyfriend at the time and I shipped our belongings to Los Angeles, jammed everything else we could fit into overhead compartments on the Airstream, and drove. It was amazing because we had no schedules to keep and we could have a different front yard every morning - from the Grand Canyon to Bryce Canyon to the Redwood Forest. Now that I`m in Los Angeles, I found a beautiful spot in Malibu to park it. Whenever my schedule permits, I stay in my Airstream for the weekend. It`s instant camping - a little piece of heaven.
- Jamie LunerMove to California. Malibu is paradise.
- David Geffen(on his days as an alcoholic, when he was drinking Mexican Spirit tequila) I was really sort of on a prolonged acid trip. I saw things and had peculiar quasi-religious experiences. I thought I was John The Baptist, and I would talk to the sea at Malibu and the sea would talk back to me. It was weird.
- Anthony HopkinsIf he`s not getting something out of a performance, he`ll come up and go, `What are you, a faggot from Malibu? Were you playing too much fucking volleyball on the beach growing up?` He once said that my reaction in a shot was comparable to a `bad `Mark Hamill` moment.` I said, `Oliver, I`ll take that as a compliment. Star Wars was one of my favorite movies.` - On `Oliver Stone`. My father gave me some pretty bad advice - keep it honest, which I did. People ask, why am I so honest with the press? I don`t have an answer. I suppose I`m honest everywhere else. Why should it stop here? Most of my shit sounds like lies. But all my stories are true, and that`s the problem. They call me the last honest man in Hollywood. But I care what people think, we all do."
- Charlie SheenIt`s related to acting really. I wish I had his career. I remember being in "Remington Steele" (1982) and seeing Bruce Willis go out there and just do it. I thought, "He`s making movies and I`m still here". I just remember that. I remember, ironically, in 1986, I remember going into the old La Scala in Malibu. Bruce was there with Demi (Demi Moore), I had just been offered the Bond in `86 and he said to me, "Well done, man, you got out, way to go." I said, "Thanks, Bruce". Of course, two months later I was high and dry without any Bond in my life or even "Remington Steele". The next thing I see him and he`s off doing his feature films. I always wanted to do movies. I`ve stopped trying to pick myself. Hopefully, you reach a point in life where you leave yourself alone and make peace with your shortcomings, whatever they may be. Education is something for me. I left school at fifteen, sixteen, so I`m always feeling like I got to catch up, got to catch up, got to catch up. That`s something that, you know, you find yourself in a meeting and you`re like, oh boy, we`re going into deep waters. I haven`t read that piece of literature, that`s a piece of information I should have known.
- Pierce BrosnanYeah, I heard it all, I made it, I know exactly what it`s going to sound like. Can I explain it? Nah. (laughs) It`s different. We definitely didn`t want to make the same record, you know what I mean. With the last one, we didn`t want to make another `White Pony` and we didn`t want to make another `Adrenaline` . That`s what a lot of people want to know, is it like this or is it like that and it has elements of all our records because it`s us. But I think it`s a broader record. There`s a lot of other things going on. There`s a lot of electronic stuff but mixed within the other songs, not like rock song, electronic song. The songs have a lot more parts and there`s a lot of different things. It was written over a long period of time. We started it about a year and a half ago. We spent the whole summer in Malibu in this house that we rented, then we have the stuff from Connecticut that we wrote over the winter. We have a lot of different stuff. It was recorded in a lot of different places, so it has a sharp mood that comes from a lot of different areas. It makes it a bigger, huger record. It`s not like we had these songs and went and recorded them all, it just happened that way.
- Chino MorenoI have a home in Salt Lake, and I have a home in Malibu, at the beach.
- Roma DowneyI grew up in the water. I surfed my whole life. I grew up in Malibu at the beach. I swam in high school and college, so it`s always been my buddy.
