It is a very tricky situation when you get the chance to work in English films. I do films based on characters, not to get an entry into Hollywood or whatever. In English, my Bride & Prejudice did well world over. I don`t know how it did in Hindi, but I know Jurassic Park too didn`t do well in Hindi. I was glad audiences worldwide liked an English film that was Indian. When I did Mistress of Spices, I did it for Paul (Mayeda Berges, the director and husband of Gurinder Chadha) as a team. The film found its audiences. When the Provoked script came to me, I felt it was a very important story of an Indian woman based in London who killed her husband because of marital abuse. Kiranjit Ahluwalia made a big impression in England, and so I did this film because I felt it was an important story to be told. Provoked is an important film for many other Kirans in the world. - Aishwarya Rai(On the success of Jurassic Park (1993), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) and Independence Day (1996)): The success of these three movies has certainly made my life less stressful and I`m having great fun slaying aliens and dinosaurs.
- Jeff GoldblumI mean, forget about Jurassic Park (1993), I remember the real-event movie when I was a kid was "King Kong Vs. Godzilla" (Kingu Kongu tai Gojira (1962)). There was a theatre outside of Pittsburgh where I grew up, a real jewel box inside, three balconies.
- Jeff GoldblumI`m as guilty as anyone, because I helped to herald the digital era with _Jurassic Park (1993)). But the danger is that it can be abused to the point where nothing is eye-popping any more. The difference between making Jaws (1975) 31 years ago and War of the Worlds (2005) is that today, anything I can imagine, I can realize on film. Then, when my mechanical shark was being repaired and I had to shoot something, I had to make the water scary. I relied on the audience`s imagination, aided by where I put the camera. Today, it would be a digital shark. It would cost a hell of a lot more, but never break down. As a result, I probably would have used it four times as much, which would have made the film four times less scary. Jaws is scary because of what you don`t see, not because of what you do. We need to bring the audience back into partnership with storytelling.
- Steven SpielbergI guess it`s sort of this naive character that I play. I also do a velociraptor, a dinosaur from the Jurassic period. I like writing a good joke. I like being able to use my physical-ness, like facial expressions and stuff to really take home a joke and get it across - especially like in Tiffin.
