(on his character Lyle in The Italian Job (2003) (who speaks a lot of technical jargon:) "I don`t believe in e-mail. I rarely use a cell phone and I don`t have a fax. There are lots of cops and robbers shows, but what attracted me to this part was that they`ve cut out all the jargon. There`s no, `Roger, Roger` or `Over`. We simply answer the phone, `Yeah, what do you want?`

I dislike literary jargon and never use it. Criticism has only one function and that is to help readers read and understand literature. It is not a science, it is an aid to art.
