My original interests and intentions in guitar playing were primarily created on quality of tone, for instance, the way the instrument could be made to echo or simulate the human voice. At the time when I was still thrashing around on the acoustic guitar trying to sound like Leadbelly or Jesse Fuller, there was someone who had already achieved this particular goal. That was Hank Marvin (Hank B. Marvin) of The Shadows. He had found, and settled on, a clean, pure sound which disallowed any kind of ham-fisted playing. Only the lightest touch was permitted. The result was a marvelous mixture of clear, sweet melody over a strong rock beat (and what a great drum sound). On top of all this, he looked like Buddy Holly and played a real Stratocaster!

One summer I remember, I got exposed to Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly and Buddy Holly was a very very big, made a very big impression on me. Because of a lot of things, you know, the way he looked and his charisma.

His thoughts on working in Hollywood: "You don`t see Indians in Hollywood films around which a story can revolve. As soon as we have a social presence in your society, I am sure there will be many actors from our part of the world that will be acting in Hollywood films. I have always been a great admirer of Marlon Brando, Al Paccinno, Robert De Niro. I would love to walk into the frame, hold their briefcase!"

Holly really came to play, ... I was impressed with their football team and the way they played on every down.

The rock and roll spirit. I learned a lot of that because I worked with Buddy Holly. I played bass with him, and he taught me a lot about that.

Holly Hunter has been doing great work forever.

I`ve always written about `My girlfriend did this and here`s how I feel about it,` or `I had a fight with this person. None of these songs are about those things. I pushed a lot of personal limits, and Holly Wood helps navigate through the themes of love and evil that are on this album.

I mean, I haven`t been completely lacking in some enjoyment of Chuck Berry or Buddy Holly. But I just didn`t pay attention to that period of music, obviously.

Love is like the wild rose-briar; Friendship like the holly-tree. The holly is dark when the rose-briar blooms, but which will bloom most constantly?

Holly is an outstanding hockey player. She`s definitely been a great addition to our program. She has eased right into being a first-year starter.

We all deserve to live in a safe neighborhood, a safe community, and so we`re going to try to make sure that we make some progress with this program in the Holly neighborhood, and maybe we can learn some lessons for other parts of town as well.
