I loved doing Shakespeare. My two favorite roles, in fact, have been Viola in Twelfth Night and Helena in A Midsummer Night`s Dream.
- Blythe DannerOn differences between working with David Lynch and Jennifer Chambers Lynch - "Man, woman. Night, day. It`s a really huge difference. It`s completely different to work with a woman that is my age, maybe younger. David`s encouraged her, through his example of exploring dark places within oneself, but she`s less abstract. I was blown away by the script of _Boxing Helena (1993)_. I had heard all the stories and I didn`t want to read it. Then my agent said, `It`s a dream. Just read it. It`s pretty interesting.` I was shocked that a 19-year-old girl had that perspective on relationships, that understanding. Then I met with her and we just clicked. Because we didn`t really meet - just one or twice, very briefly - on the set of "Twin Peaks" (1990)."
- Sherilyn FennAbout Boxing Helena (1993) - "I liked `Boxing Helena`. I think it was an almost impossible story to tell. Although it has some flaws, I think it`s neat. I think it`s a really neat story; it`s a beautiful story."
- Sherilyn Fenn(From 1994 interview when asked the reasons for the success of A Room with a View (1985)) "I`ve never seen it, so I don`t know. Florence was lovely of course, and it`s a wonderful love story. I did enjoy doing the part, because Maggie Smith and I were old friends from 1958. We both arrived in Florence on the same day and neither of us had any family with us, so we would spend all day together filming and then go out to dinner together, catching up on our Old Vic days. But, I didn`t enjoy working with James Ivory. I didn`t feel that I was on his wavelength and I didn`t feel that he wanted me in the film, I have to say that. I remember doing that scene in the middle of the square where she goes mad and attacks the man selling postcards; James went to see the rushes and told me afterwards that everyone had laughed at it, they`d thought it was very funny. `Well done`, he said to me. I thought perhaps we`d turned the corner but, when I came to post-sync the film, that scene was missing. When I asked why, he told me that Helena Bonham Carter hadn`t been feeling up to it that day, so he`d cut the whole sequence. I don`t know if that was the real reason he cut it - I just don`t know".
- Judi DenchPeople should be a little loony, Helena. That`s the best thing about them.
- Karel CapekI just think this guy`s got to be evacuated from the Liberal Party leadership by close of business today, ... I think that his apology is entirely unacceptable to Helena and that is the greatest insult not only to her but of every woman of Asian background.
