I really do see the good in people, and I don`t want to change that. That`s really how I view things, so sometimes I`ll look past a lot of huge red flags because I see something else in someone. Then of course it always comes back to haunt me in the long run.
- Jennifer MorrisonThe Americans who went to Iwo Jima knew it would be a tough fight, but they always believed they`d win. The Japanese were told they wouldn`t come home - they were being sent to die for the Emperor. People have made a lot out of that very different cultural approach. But as I got into the storytelling for the two movies (Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)), I realised that the 19-year-olds from both sides had the same fears. They all wrote poignant letters home saying: "I don`t want to die." They were all going through the same thing, despite the cultural differences.
- Clint EastwoodI guess if you see both of the movies (Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)) together, they sum up as an antiwar film. Whether it`s about territory or religion, war is horrifyingly and depressingly archaic. But I didn`t set out to make a war movie. I cared about those three fellows - Bradley, Hayes and Gagnon (John H. Bradley, Ira H. Hayes, `René A. Gagnon`) - the headliners on that war-bond circus. The young men were taken off the front lines, wined and dined, introduced to movie stars. But it felt wrong to them.
- Clint EastwoodI didn`t have any red flags coming up that I should be concerned about him.
- Julie RobertsThere is hopeful symbolism in the fact that flags do not wave in a vacuum.
- Arthur C. ClarkeI still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks. We can`t beat George Bush unless we appeal to a broad cross-section of Democrats.
- Howard DeanI feel like a host, ... It`s pretty sweet. The pool, it looks like a completely different pool. It`s got some big stands, flags, banners, cameras, and who knows what all.
- Aaron PeirsolWhy has there been so much secrecy about AIDS? When you ask where did the virus come from, it raises a lot of flags. That makes me suspicious.
- Wangari MaathaiWe should stop worshipping flags and respect the people, remember the people and forget the flags.
- Betty WilliamsMy major aim in writing is to set out flags and issue wake-up calls.
- James BroughtonThe thing we had a lot of requests for is American flags. Everyone wants those. We`re out of them now but we`re trying to get more as quickly as possible.
- Richard MartinThere are those who wrap themselves in flags and blow the tinny trumpet of patriotism as a means of fooling the people.
- George GallowayI consider that 9/11 was the day when war was started against my own work and against myself. Even though we are not sure of the links, Iraq was one of the countries that did not lower its flags in mourning on 9/11.
- Ahmard HallThe six colours, including the white background, represent the colours of all the world`s flags... this is a true international emblem.
- Amy KempIsrael`s capital will never again be a divided city, a city with a wall at its center, a city in which two flags fly. This city, will, in its entirety, absorb immigrants, welcome pilgrims and be the eternal capital of Israel forever.
- Andrew SpenceI`m very happy to put the GAINSCO Pontiac Riley on the pole once again, ... We knew coming into qualifying, because of all the practice black flags, that I would need to go quick early on. It`s great to be starting up front, and the whole team has really been working hard to get us here.
- Anthony GrabinerI look for flags. I look for burning smoke. I look for trees wiggling in the wind,
- Antoine BourdelleWe have set down some very unique requirements. We even know what uniforms were issued to these different units, and we`ve required our people to spend additional money for the right uniforms, flags, everything. That was a monumental task in itself.
- Aubrey JewettSome of the things that kids will say in interviews, the red flags that are raised, are unbelievable. You`ll say to yourself, `You`re kidding me, right?` And I will know: That kid is not getting in.
