My breakthrough as a reader was when I discovered the European adventure story writers - Alexander Dumas, Robert Louis Stevenson, Sir Walter Scott, to name a few.
- Terry Brooks`Dumas Walker` was a big hit. It was about a guy who actually sold firecrackers and beer on the Tennessee line. We lived in Kentucky, and you couldn`t buy either. Twenty years later we wrote this silly ditty in 20 minutes, but we weren`t aware that everyone had a Dumas Walker.
