January 1999: He was awarded $3m in damages and compensation in a case against "Los Angeles" Magazine, because it had printed a digitally altered image of him in a dress (cf. Tootsie (1982)). In July 2001 a federal appeals court overturned the verdict. The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals found that because the photo appeared in an article, not an advertisement, the use of the actor`s likeness did not constitute "commercial speech" and was entitled to the full protection of the 1st Amendment.
- Dustin Hoffman"George felt that it was just and proper. When he made Empire, we hadn`t met, and he didn`t have a particular idea of who would play the Emperor or how the character would develop. And he had no notion that he would do the back-story - Episodes I, II, and III. So whoever played the Emperor in a mask and added to Revill`s voice wouldn`t seem authentic to the people who are going to watch the entire saga in the right order. It wouldn`t make any sense. Since I was the Emperor (in the other Star Wars films), it felt appropriate that I should be inserted into Empire, and that`s what George did." (on digitally replacing Clive Revill in the DVD release of The Empire Strikes Back)

- John FrankenheimerOn how Gene Roddenberry would have felt about digitally remastering all the "Star Trek" (1966) episodes: "You know what? He wouldn`t have been bothered by it at all. Gene did the best work he could at the time, but he was also all about the future. I think he`d have thought it was terrific that the show was being made to look better because of new technology" (September 2006).
- Majel BarrettNow that I can edit the whole thing on AVID and edit the whole thing on tape, maybe I will do the next digitally, because maybe the quality will become less obvious between tape and film.
- Michael AptedSince we made Shrek in the digital format, you actually can see it in its purest form digitally.
- Jeffrey KatzenbergIn the world of heart care, physicians rely heavily on information that is digitally or electronically captured in order to diagnose cardiovascular disease and plan appropriate treatments. It`s exciting to bring together the information technology component with advancements in cardiovascular care, providing physicians with faster, more convenient access to all relevant information about their patients.
