Def Leppard is a rock band that can sing.

I always knew that Def Leppard were a band, who wrote songs, who lived in the same house, while they were writing the songs, it`s sorta like The Monkees, and that`s cool!

I pride myself on being the guy who can do Def Comedy Jam and Charlie Rose. And do well on both.

I signed to Def Jam and within two months, I heard that Ja Rule was looking for someone to do a song with.

Look at music: I`ve always loved hiphop and rap, and now there`s this whole progressive movement, with De La Soul and Mos Def, Common. It`s some of the best stuff around.

So So Def has been one of the most successful and consistent labels in the game in the last 10 years.

Mos Def is one of the most creative, intelligent human beings I`ve had the opportunity to work with. He is fun. The entire time, he would go in and out of different characters, just for the fun of it. Awesome energy.

No one at Def Jam or Roc-A-Fella believed in "Through the Wire." So I shot a video using my own money.

But the irony is that because the band isn`t the focus any more, it allows me the chance to enjoy being a member of Def Leppard much more.

Also, Def Jam came along, and everybody was doing it without really practicing or trying to be better comics, just trying to get on TV.

Def Leppard is obviously a different band that we are, but the music work well tighter. And the audiences seem work well together too. We are opening, but we`re having a good time.

If he stays healthy and keeps progressing the way he has been, who knows how good he can be. You can`t teach someone to be 6-foot-8, 235 pounds. But I`ll tell you that if he keeps progressing, in five years he will get paid to play. Maybe not in the NBA, but definitely somewhere in Europe. He`s that good.

I actually knew I was going to be perfect for Def Leppard, sorry I hate to say that but I knew it.

I was amazed, it`s like this guys either strong as nails, or just like knows what he`s all about. He is like one of the coolest guys I think I`ve ever met. I thought it was a tragedy the guy had to be taken out like that. It wasn`t right. So, um, I thought he definately deserved, at least, a song on the album from uh.. one band. You know what I mean?
