"I do think that maybe now people are looking at more depth to what we did. Yes, we were pretty flashy and we were pretty loud and at moments we seemed very outrageous, but there was a lot of honest craftsmanship that went on behind that." (Speaking in 2003)
- Brian MayMy grandfather was a farmer so I was always raised that you worked very hard whatever your job is; my sister was a teacher. You`re to be respected if you try hard and try to be good at something and the results are less important. You can`t control that. The more important thing is that you tried your best. But now there`s much more of an intention where some of these kids don`t want to be actors, they want to be famous! Their focus isn`t necessarily on craftsmanship.
- Vince VaughnHe has a great sense of humor -- but it`s in his assembly. It`s really his craftsmanship that people overlook. It`s not being fair to him just calling him outrageous.
- Adam CarollaI really believe that people like Bill Murray or John Belushi are just as great and just as valid as Robert De Niro or Al Pacino. And I don`t think you can say One Flew Over the Cuckoo`s Nest (1975) is a better movie than Animal House (1978); they`re different genres. I think they`re both examples of great craftsmanship.
- Sam RockwellWithout craftsmanship, inspiration is a mere reed shaken in the wind.
- Johannes BrahmsSkill without imagination is craftsmanship and gives us many useful objects such as wickerwork picnic baskets. Imagination without skill gives us modern art.
- Tom StoppardEvery room -- indeed, every square foot . . . has been designed as everyday living space, ... and the money saved by reducing the volume of space has been invested instead in tailoring to fit its owners to a T: on beautiful design and craftsmanship, on healthy and resource-efficient materials, and on better building practices.
- Barbara BeckerI discovered that what`s really important for a creator isn`t what we vaguely define as inspiration or even what it is we want to say, recall, regret, or rebel against. No, what`s important is the way we say it. Art is all about craftsmanship. Others can interpret craftsmanship as style if they wish. Style is what unites memory or recollection, ideology, sentiment, nostalgia, presentiment, to the way we express all that. It`s not what we say but how we say it that matters.
