Copycats Quotes

The trouble with most musicians today is that they are copycats. Of course you have to start out playing like someone else. You have a model, or a teacher, and you learn all that he can show you. But then you start playing for yourself. Show them that you`re an individual. And I can count those who are doing that today on the fingers of one hand.

Generally, you are held to a sound and that becomes your sound. That gets branded as your sound, and all the copycats start with it because the labels are looking for that sound.

If the truth is not reported, rumors and confusion grow and more problems then occur. People start imagining certain scenarios that are not true and those scenarios may be much more harmful than any concern over copycats or the crying wolf that leads to ambivalence.

Traditionally, news organizations are very careful about reporting bomb threats. We don`t want to prompt copycats who might see the story and seek attention by duplicating the bomb threats or to give any notoriety to the person who was calling in those bomb threats.

There certainly is a real phenomenon of copycats.

Like all copycats, they flop. Maybe they (fans) sit on them and if they take them home they use them for dust rags.
