Just because people can express themselves through their art doesn`t mean they are great communicators in person.

About his follow-up film to Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004) and the re-election of President George W. Bush, where Bush won 51% of the popular vote: "We want to get cameras rolling now and have it ready in two, three years. We want to document it. Fifty-one per cent of the American people lacked information (in this election), and we want to educate and enlighten them. They weren`t told the truth. We`re communicators and it`s up to us to start doing it now. The official mourning period is over today, and there is a silver lining: George W. Bush is prohibited by law from running (for presidency) again."

This is a kind of a personal message from me, and that is that teachers are good communicators, they do an important job in our society.

So often corporate America, business America, are the worst communicators, because all they understand are facts, and they cannot tell a story. They know how to explain their quarterly results, but they don`t know how to explain what they mean.

When I started in this business, everybody said the Democrats were the better communicators because they sounded like social workers, and Republicans were awful because they sounded like morticians. In some cases. they actually dressed like morticians.

Educators take something simple and make it complicated. Communicators take something complicated and make it simple.

Great communicators have an appreciation for positioning. They understand the people they`re trying to reach and what they can and can`t hear. They send their message in through an open door rather than trying to push it through a wall.
