(on fellow "flapper" actress Clara Bow) I liked Clara. A very warm, sweet, generous girl. What great potential! But she wasn`t a finisher. Her mind was like a sponge, but she didn`t have the concentration or ability to see it through. She was quite ingenuous. People would go into shock over her salty language.
- Colleen MooreAlthough I avoided dramatics - and everything else - in school. I wanted to be a success on the stage, the screen, or the radio. So I saved my money and when I had bus fare and $16.82 over, I told my mother, Clara, I was going to leave home. She was heartbroken, but she believed in me.
- Carole LandisI`ve got a black woolen hat and it`s got Pervert written across the front of it. It`s the name of the clothing label. And I was with my wife and my baby at the supermarket and I didn`t think. I just put my hat on Clara`s head, because it was cold. And the looks. I couldn`t figure out why I was getting death looks. And then I realized my 10-month old baby`s wearing a hat with the word Pervert written on it and these people were like, `There`s Satan! There`s Satan out with his kid!` And then I made a point of her wearing it every time we went there (On an experience during the filming of A Life Less Ordinary (1997) in Utah).
- Ewan McGregor(from a 1990 interview) None of the stuff I`ve done will ever cure cancer. It`s entertainment and some of it has been better entertainment than others. Ghost (1990) is a good little movie, like Jumpin` Jack Flash (1986), which I`ve changed my mind about and am finally able to watch. Burglar (1987) and Clara`s Heart (1988) are good little movies. There`s also a couple I don`t care for. The Telephone (1988) read brilliantly but was cockadoo on the screen. I`m also not crazy about Fatal Beauty (1987); it could have been a whole lot better. I`ve done good stuff and bad stuff. That`s what careers are all about.
- Whoopi GoldbergClara`s 16 months, and she`s really brilliant. She started talking, half in French and half in English. I don`t speak French near as well as her.
- Ewan McGregorClara Bow`s an interesting actress because back then she was real honest. She was this Brooklyn girl who didn`t have a whole lot of class, she`d come right out and say what she wanted. And she ended up leaving Hollywood when she was 26 because all of that had transpired. She was fun, she was just who she was and she got badly criticized for that. When she arrived out here she was like the Madonna of the Twenties: people started dressing like her and doing their hair like her and the whole bit. But then the studios did what they do even now, they started making formula movies - the It (1927) girl pictures - and never allowed her to do anything else. - on silent-screen actress Clara Bow
- Sherilyn FennI used to go to Grauman`s Chinese or Pantages and sit there waiting to see my faceless body on the screen. Texas began to look awfully near and awfully good, and "Clara Lou" had a sweet sound to my ears.
- Ann SheridanAlthough I avoided dramatics - and everything else - in school. I wanted to be a success on the stage, the screen, or the radio. So I saved my money and when I had bus fare and $16.82 over, I told my mother, Clara, I was going to leave home. She was heartbroken, but she believed in me.
- Carole LandisShe was always very conscientious, lots of energy, giving 500 percent. She had been at the school for seven years, going from the advanced division to the junior company and to playing Clara.
- Annie Kinsey(Inman and Stark) went to a house off Ford Street to check on a probationer that might have been wanted and on the way they ended up seeing a parolee that was wanted and arrested him. They saw two additional people that had warrants including a probationer, and this one young man ran from them, ... They chased him a few blocks over to Clara Street, where he was arrested.
