I was very shy, but was desperate to meet boys. So my sister told me to be a cheerleader. I didn`t make cheerleading squad, so I thought, "Why not try out for a play?" As soon as I did I found out I absolutely loved it. I could cry and scream and laugh, but in a controlled environment.

There was the boy element, but more important was the performance element. Once I got to high school and auditioned for a play and got in, I thought this was really what I was looking for. Once that had got cleared up, from 13 on, that was it.

I cheered competitively all through high school and then did two dance teams. I was on a team equivalent to a JV squad where we did like women`s basketball, I did that my Freshman year. I took my Sophomore year off. Then when I transferred to UNCW, I joined the dance team again and got back into it. I never thought it would be this beneficial to me spending so much time cheerleading. I definitely thought it was going to be pointless and then I find myself at 23 going to cheerleading practice. Blows my mind!

You just can`t get any guy off the street. You have to know they are going to be there to catch you ... Trust is the biggest factor in cheerleading; you have to trust the people under you ... Any guy can hold her hand, but it takes the elite to hold her feet.
