Bootleg Quotes

The bootleg records, those are outrageous. I mean, they have stuff you do in a phone booth. Like, nobody`s around. If you`re just sitting and strumming in a motel, you don`t think anybody`s there, you know . . . it`s like the phone is tapped and then it appears on a bootleg record. With a cover that`s got a picture of you taken from underneath your bed and it`s got a striptease-type title and it costs $30. Amazing. Then you wonder why most artists feel so paranoid.

When certain bootleg companies started off and they would take maybe ten per cent of whatever they got and help fuel new bands, which I`m cool with, I think that`s a good idea. Most of the record companies are not doing that.

In response to bootleg copies of the movie popping up: "Is it wrong for someone who`s bought a film on DVD to let a friend watch it for free? Of course it`s not. It never has been and never will be. I think information, art and ideas should be shared. I don`t agree with the copyright laws, and I don`t have a problem with people downloading the movie and sharing it with people as long as they`re not trying to make a profit off my labour. I would oppose that. I do well enough already, and I made this film because I want the world to change. The more people who see it, the better, so I`m happy this is happening."
