I had spent weeks staring at the wall in my house out of depression because of things that had gone wrong and the choices I had made. When I read "The Machinist" (Maquinista, El (2004)), I just went, "Wow! This is perfect". I was having dreams about the character and I couldn`t stop thinking about it. I felt like this one was going to save my arse, and pull me out of the depressed state I had got into.
- Christian Bale"You never have any control over what people write or what they think, but there is a sense of me as a working-class lad done very well. I don`t know where that comes from . . . It`s partly to do with "One Summer" (1983), the first thing I ever did, which is a very gritty piece of work; it was quite romantic, but it was about two poverty-stricken inner-city kids. People get confused, and think that was my background as well. In people`s minds, there`s no such thing as a middle-class scouser. Liverpool does tend to carry that sort of stamp of tough city kids, no arse in your trousers . . . it`s so not that. We`re the European city of culture, for God`s sake!"
- David MorrisseyI had spent weeks staring at the wall in my house out of depression because of things that had gone wrong and the choices I had made. When I read The Machinist, I just went, `Wow! This is perfect.` I was having dreams about the character and I couldn`t stop thinking about it. I felt like this one was going to save my arse, and pull me out of the depressed state I had got into.
- Christian BaleI work my arse off. I`m never late, ask anyone. I`m only 27. I don`t feel like a big star. I feel neither the pressure nor the grandeur of my situation, you know. I think I`m still trying to find my feet as an actor. And I know it ain`t brain surgery, but it confuses me and it comes between me and my sleep a lot.
- Colin FarrellYou`re about as useful as a one-legged man at an arse kicking contest.
- Rowan AtkinsonComplete loose-stool-water. Arse-gravy of the very worst kind. (Speaking about Dan Brown`s novel, "The Da Vinci Code.")
- Stephen FryLA`s not a good place to grow old. It`s a Paris Hilton-getting-fucked-up-the-arse kind of town . . . a town full of ambulance chasers.
- Ozzy OsbourneI need them, need them to give me a kick up the arse. Otherwise I`d just be sat-in getting fat, counting me money. It`s good people living on your doorstep and looking through your bins. Gives you energy.
- Liam GallagherI could be a bit of a pain in the arse. Since I`ve come out of my cancer, I must say I intend to be even more of a pain in the arse.
- Harold PinterI don`t think it was a surprise that I ended up as an actor, and it was anything but a disappointment. My parents gave me the knowledge that reading isn`t a bad thing, and admitting to liking a painting doesn`t make you an arse-bandit. And that wouldn`t have been a problem either.
- Martin FreemanNever, ever in any of our films have we thought `we`ll do this for the American market`, Sometimes we`d change a song or a name or the word `arse` but on the whole we try to make movies for home and then just hope they`ll work in the US.
- Richard CurtisMy arse contemplates those who talk behind my back.
