I`m not interested in adding names, I`m interested in adding hockey players. I signed Teemu because I think he makes us a better hockey team. We`re anticipating he`ll play on our top six. Certainly, I`m counting on him for top-six ice time and the power play.
I`m told his knee is fine. He struggled a bit in his last year at Colorado. With the style we`re going to play and the rules, he can play a number of years after this year. It`s up to Teemu. I made it clear to his agent we`re certainly not looking at this as a one-year thing.
Those were the types of teams that historically lost players during the free-agent cycle.
I`m not surprised in anything that has happened.
My goals for the team are simple: have a consistent winning team on the ice and ensure we become an integral part of the Orange County community,
reflect about what it would take to make the world a better place, to make things right.
Kip Brennan adds size and strength to our hockey club. We needed more of a physical presence.
Now we have the same off-season buzz they get in baseball. In the old days, a lot fewer people moved and they tended to gravitate to the same teams.
We expect Teemu Selanne to be an impact player for us, both on the ice and in the community. His skating and goal-scoring ability should fit nicely with our new style of play.
I have said all along all I asked for was a retraction. If this action is successful, any proceeds from it after attorneys` fees will go directly to Canuck Place.
