It was our first away meet and we were a little off all day. We`ve been at home all season training and having to travel and getting used to a new field and track, it was kind of weird.
If the guys are goofing off, Danny is one of the guys to get them straightened back up.
Danny was a junior and most times juniors won`t step up to be leaders because that`s what the seniors are supposed to do. Danny took control of the team right away. You can tell kids feed right off of Danny.
Of course that`s your decision, but we still ask that this not be approved.
Then I had them take another short story by Dick and make changes of their own to it and, in groups of four, do a radio drama. The results were quite impressive.
If a kid complains, Danny would take him to the side, and work with him. He never embarrassed the kids in practice. He never yells at a kid.
Danny never pouted, he never quit, he never complained.
You could hear `Gilroy` over the loudspeaker. We were running our races and we were winning our heats or coming in second.
That`s why it kept raining, because it was hanging around there a little bit longer.
It`s neat living downtown. I had built a house in Manitou, and I owned a couple fixer-uppers. I can see myself living here five or 10 years.
