This is my regular season, so this is my chance to shine. I`m going to get better, but I`m never going to lose my confidence or waiver confidence-wise.
I think after the game it was mostly frustration - not playing as well as I`d like to, not executing like I know I can. You can see in practice, I`ve had a real good camp. Made a lot of strides, made a lot of plays. I feel like my knowledge of the offense has gotten better each day and I`ve gotten more and more comfortable. It`s just a matter of transferring that into the game.
It was a bad throw. I kind of separated (from the rush) and tried to bring it back together. I was in between hitches and just threw a really bad ball. There`s no excuse for that.
I`m going to keep plugging away. I`ve said from the start that whatever happens happens as long as I continue to get better. That`s what`s frustrating (Saturday night) because I didn`t get better. I didn`t make strides where I wanted to. Obviously I didn`t make a strong case for being No. 2 tonight.
We just couldn`t get anything going. Not a productive night. My goal has been not just yards or numbers, but to make good decisions and not have any turnovers. I didn`t make good decisions and I had a turnover.
They say it takes two to three years to really get the West Coast offense down. I think that`s the reason why a lot of top picks struggle early on - because they don`t have the guys around them and the offenses they`re running are pretty complex. Obviously Alex is in a situation where they`d like him to play right away, which puts a little more pressure on him. At the same time, I put pressure on myself to be great every day in practice and in the games, and I will be. It`s just going to take a little bit.
That drive, probably was the best moment of camp for me so far.
It was a very good learning experience for me, ... You can learn from your mistakes and improve.
It`d be nice to get a couple warmup throws, but I went out there cold-turkey. And that`s what a backup needs to do - be ready at any time. On this team, with Brett Favre in charge, that doesn`t happen much, but if I am the No. 2 guy, I`ll definitely be ready.
Tonight is not a setback. It`s just a learning experience.
